Lawei Baphyrnai Children’s Home for Boys was established on 19th July, 2008, located at Nongrah, Nongpdeng, Block – D with a capacity of 20 beds, for boys ages from 4-18 years, with 6 full-time staff members. and Girls Home established on 1st October, 2013, located at Mawklot, with a capacity of 10 beds, for girls ages 2-18 years, with 3 full-time staff members; respectively was started as a response to the needs of the children for shelter and care, coming from unpleasant environment, where they were vulnerable to all kinds of abuse, lack of basic food and nutrition or facing malnutrition, and also some in extreme poverty with almost total abandonment by their parents. The children needed a place where they could call their home. RSM created such a shelter, by providing a roof over their heads, beds to sleep on, food on the table, space for recreation, and above all to provide a place where they would receive love and attention. Lawei Baphyrnai also gives them a fair share for opportunities to reveal their hidden potential and capabilities, besides paving a way for their dreams to materialize.
