1. About Us:
Reach Shillong Ministries is a ‘Not for Profit’ organization registered as a society under the Meghalaya Societies Registration Act, and was established on the 14th November 2007 to respond to the needs of the children in need of care and protection in the urban areas of Meghalaya, especially in the capital Shillong. The founders reached out to the children who spent most of their time in the streets. They realized that these children needed more than food; they needed shelter, healthcare, education etc. As they were catering to the needs of the children, they also met with women in distressed situations who needed temporary assistance or even longer rehabilitation. Subsequently, the organization also met with youth who needed guidance in their life. Many of them had been addicted to illicit substances and had little hope for the future.
Such circumstances led the founders to initiate many initiatives such as children’s home for boys and girls, temporary shelter for women, crisis management centre for children, open day shelters, specialized adoption agency, education for out of school children and others.
